Maila Nurmi who played the sexy TV vampire, Vampira has died at age 85. Vampira was the host of a TV show that showed B-movies during in the mid 50s. It was thought that Morticia Addams of the “Addams Family” was inspired by the Vampira character.
Althought the character of Elvira was a direct copy of Vampira, Nurmi lost a $10 million lawsuit against Cassandra Peterson who played Elvira. A friend says Nurmi supported herself late in her life by selling handmade jewelry.
I think it’s a shame that Maila Nurmi ends up selling handmade jewelry to make ends meet when she definitely had a case in her lawsuit. And that says it all.
