Crazy News Monday; Snail Mail For Real

This story proves why they call it snail mail. A Christmas card that was mailed in 1914, just now reached its destination in Oberlin, Kansas. The card was mailed Dec. 23, 1914 to Ethel Martin from her cousins in Alma, Neb.

Ethel Martin is deceased, but the post office wanted to get the card to a relative so it was sent to Bernice Martin, Ethel's sister-in-law. Since the one-cent postage on the card wouldn’t cover the today’s postage, the card was put into another envelope with modern postage.

It’s a mystery where the card was all this time, but Bernice Martin said wherever it was kept it was in perfect condition.

Well, say want you will about the post office, but they do make sure you get your mail, even if it takes a hundred years. And that says it all.

Happy Holidays
