Another Wrestler’s Early Death

I saw on the news last night that another wrestler had died under strange circumstances. This is the second wrestler to die in about a month. However, unlike Chris Benoit the wrestler that died last month, John Kronus didn’t go on a killing spree and kill his family or anyone else.

Kronus was found dead in his girlfriend’s apartment. This guy was only 34-years-old, way too young to just up and die. An autopsy will be done to determine how Kronus died, but if I was to guess, I would say steroids or some other drugs had something to do with it.

Although Kronus retired from wrestling 2002, that sport can surely leave a lot of wear on your body and the demand to stay buffed up can also wear on you. So you have your steroids to stay buffed and energetic and pain killers to deal with the pain the sport obviously causes to your body. Well, all of that is also hard on your heart and sooner or later it’s going to give up.

Even though Kronus retired from the sport five years ago he could have gotten into some habits that he carried on even after his wrestling career was over. I’m only speculating, but it’s strange that a 34-year-old healthy, physically fit man would just up and die.

From 1985 to now over 90 wrestlers have died before the age of 50. Now, not all of them are because of steroid use, but there is something happening here that should be looked at. It was found Benoit had high levels of testosterone in his body when he killed his family and hung himself. What do you think could cause that?

The deaths of Benoit and Kronus should be something other wrestlers should consider if they are taking steroids or thinking about taking them. Even if steroids are found not to be the cause of Kronus’s death, they still do harm to your heart and could cause an early demise. And that says it all.
