The War In Iraq Is Not A War On Terror

I can’t believe that people still believe that the war in Iraq is a war on terror. Even the news media keeps calling it a war on terror. Give me break. Come on people this has never been a war on terror, that’s just one of the names this war has been called and it just stuck.

Lets recap the names this war has been called. First it was a war to find “Weapons of Mass Destruction”. That didn’t stick because there were no weapons of mass destruction. Then it was called “A War to Help the People of Iraq” that kind of stuck and is sometimes alluded to. But the big winner is “The War on Terror”, but now it’s becoming “A War to Help the Iraqi People Protect Themselves”.

Okay let’s examine this logically for a minute. There are terrorist in Iraq, but they are terrorizing Iraq. It has been proven that Iraq had nothing to do with the terrorist that attacked this country. In fact Iraq and Al-Qaida (who actually attacked the US and other countries) don’t even get along. Iraq isn’t the people that are terrorizing other countries like the recent attack in England. Iraq has only really been a terror to itself after Saddam was run out of Kuwait.

So way did we attack Iraq? Well, from what I’ve read and seen, Bush and Cheney had hard ons about taking Saddam out. They were tired of his games, but from what I understand Cheney really pushed the idea of a war with Iraq. And I know it’s a cliché now, but I believe it was also to have some control on the oil there. On the day of the attack or a day after, President Bush made an announcement and in that announcement he urged to Iraqi people not to bother the oil wells. Open your eyes, doesn’t that say something.

I think this war has lasted longer then anybody thought it would. I think the President it would be like the Kuwait war where Saddam’s soldiers were giving up to get a meal. Now we have to stay to save face. We promised we would help get the Iraqi army to a point where they could protect their country and we can’t leave until that’s done.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m behind the troops all the way. They are doing what their commander and chief has ordered them to do. But war on terror this is not and it never has been and it’s a shame that our young men and women are dieing for a lie. And that says it all.

Making A Change Makes A Better Relationship

Me and my girlfriend use to be at each other’s throats all the time. We argue it seems like every other day. Then one day it stopped. We are now getting along better than we ever had, we laugh and joke and tease each other (out of fun), which we could never do before and we have and give each other more respect.

We both use to be afraid of saying anything to each other because we never knew what might set off an argument. Now I know you’re saying then way stay together? Well, because we both knew how the other good person could be. How good we were in the beginning and how good we were to each other when we weren’t arguing. We weren’t cheating on each other and we didn’t have money problems (don’t get me wrong we don’t have much money, it’s just not a problem), we just had things the other did that got on our nerves so bad that sometimes it just blew up out of proportion.

Okay, so what changed? What change was we both decided to change ourselves instead of trying to change the other person. We started looking at the things we were doing that might be causing the problem instead of blaming each other for causing the problem. We decided to change the way we re-acted to things and put them in there proper perspective. For me, I have things that if anybody does them it irritates me to no end and my girlfriend does most of those things and it use to cause a lot of problems. But by changing the way I re-act to those things my girlfriend was more willing to try and be more conscious of them and not do them.

One thing though, in order for this change to work, both partners has to be willing to make the change. So if you’re having problems in you’re relationship but you want to stay together, if you really care for each other and you really want your relationship to work out and you really want to enjoy each other, make the change, believe me you’ll be glad you did. And that says it all.

The Power Of Smiling

Smiling is one the most powerful things you do. You can make other people smile just by smiling. You make yourself feel better when you smile. Everybody loves to laugh and smile, it is the one thing that people all over the world have in common. Even the most hardened criminal likes to laugh and smile.

It is a proven fact that smiling and laughing can make you healthier. Smiling is the one thing you can do to control other people. Try it, as you walk past people smile at them and see if they don’t smile back. Want to feel good, smile.

So if you’re feeling sad or you had a bad day think of something that will make you smile and you will feel a lot better. Hey, you actually made through another day, that’s something to smile about. And that says it all.

Live Earth Live Us

With Live Earth and his commitment to bringing awareness to Global Warming, Al Gore has literarily re-invented his image. He has jumped on this issue and made it his own and I say good for him. I think he’s done a much better job of bringing awareness to the problem of global warming than anyone before him, hell even I am paying more attention to it now.

So with Gore making more people aware of global warming and wanting to do something about it, why then is the news media bashing him so much. I keeping seeing them say that Gore is wrong, his data is flawed and that global warming isn’t as big a problem as Gore is making it out to be if there is any global warming at all.

First of all why weren’t they saying that when the other folks were trying to bring awareness to the global warming problem and with Live Aide. Is it that the news media, who has always been a Gore basher since he was Vice President just like beating down their favorite beating board? They talked about the energy being used to put on the concerts for Live Earth, but if it helps make more people start using less energy isn’t that worth it?

I’m not a big Gore fan, I never thought of the man one way or the other, but he is doing something now that might help save the planet whatever his reasons are. I say leave the guy alone and let him do what he’s thing. They say global warming might be some imagined problem, well I think something is going on. Here in the Midwest I remember we used to get snow and cold weather from like October clear to about the middle o March and now we might not get snow until January. Not I like snow or cold weather, I hate it, but it just shows the change in the planets climate.

I say it might be good for us to jump on the Gore bandwagon and start doing things to save energy and not pollute the planet and stop destroying the ozone. We need to stop killing the planet. A live earth means a live us. And that says it all.

Where Are The Kids

A friend and were talking today about how we hardly ever see kids out playing anymore. I remember when I was a kid we were always outside playing. We’d be playing football, tag, kick ball or just out running around, but I don’t see kids out doing any of that or out at all.

Have video games made kids less physically active? Is that part of the reason more kids are over weight because they’re sitting in front of a TV or computer screen playing games instead of being outside running and doing physical activities with each other? Maybe the lack of interaction with each other and the violence in those games is the reason why it’s so easy for kids to hurt and even kill each other. It’s easy not to care about people if you have little or no contact with them. Then if somebody does something to you that you don’t like or that you think is disrespectful you have no thought about doing harm to them.

I know there are other factors involved with why kids are more violent today, but I also know that when we were outside playing with each other as kids, we may have had disagreements and fights, but the next day we were back outside playing with each other again. We would even go to different neighborhoods and play with strangers (kids that is) that we didn’t even know.

Maybe it’s time parents started urging their kids to get away from the video games and go outside and play some games. They might get to know each other better and become friends and not want to hurt or kill one another. And that says it all.

Spammers Scammers And Crooks

About a month or two ago I saw a news report that said one of the top spammers had been caught and arrested. Well, they need to catch the other ones because my e-mail is still full of spam. It’s amazing the amount of junk that comes in your e-mail. Of course a lot of it I know I brought on myself because of some of the things I sign up for to make money. But most of it is from people who somehow unscrupulously got my e-mail address and just send me as well as everyone else ridicules scams that amazes me that anyone fall for.

Take the one where someone has a million dollars waiting for them and the only way they can get is if you, a complete stranger help them and they will be happy to pay you a large some of money for your efforts. How do you fall for that? But, apparently people do or they would stop doing it.

The newest thing I’m seeing now is the pdf file e-mail. This is where you get an e-mail that clams to give you some information in a pdf attachment. How stupid do you think I am? I’m not opening any attachment from somebody I don’t know. Since I never opened one I don’t know what’s in these pdf attachments, but I would bet it’s some kind of virus.

Which brings me to something else. Why do people want to sit around writing a program to harm people they don’t even know? If they’re that smart in the first place why not make money from your skills? Why not write a program that you can sell on the open market? Why people choose to do mean things to people that haven’t done a thing to them in any case is beyond me. It’s a lot easier and safer to be nice to people.

So what I want to say here is be careful when answering your e-mails and just use some common sense. If you didn’t enter a lottery in the UK, believe me you didn’t win a lottery in the UK. If some foreigner you don’t know is offering to pay you a large sum of money if you give them your bank account number so they can transfer a million dollars to your account because that’s the only way they can get the money that’s owed them, believe me you’re going to get more than you bargained for. And if anybody that you don’t know sends you an attachment, no matter how tempting it may be, do not open it.

There are lots of spammers, scammers and crooks out there, you just have to always be on guard. And that says it all.

Working On A Better Blog

This blog is supposed to be about my thoughts on things, everyday life and things that bugs me, with an ad or two thrown in here and there. I haven’t been doing much with this blog lately or any of my blogs with the exception of Mike’s Money Making Rants & Raves and that’s because easy to post there. It is my oldest blog.

Does this mean I’m not thinking of anything or that things don’t bug me anymore? No, it doesn’t. It just means that I have been busy with other things and haven’t taken time to take care of my blogs.

Well, that’s going to be changing in the coming weeks. I am planning on making all my blogs bigger and better. I will be doing more posting and broadening my subject matter. I hope you’re here to join me on my quest to better blogging. And that says it all.
