Seeing Yourself Realistically

It is amazing to me how some people can fool themselves into thinking they are something they’re not. Have you ever been with somebody and they’re describing things that they don’t like about somebody else, but they do they same things? Or do you know someone that thinks they know it all, but have been proven wrong time and time again and they still don’t get it.

I play in a band and the leader of the band has an ego that far outweighs his talents. The only reason he’s the leader of the band in the first place is because he owns the sound equipment. He has no leadership skills at all and no one in the band has any respect for him.

He always claims to want things to be perfect yet he insists on singing and believe me he sounds like hell. We have tried to help him by telling him to lower the key on songs that he is straining on, but he won’t do and despite everybody tells him he sounds like hell he doesn’t believe it. He says those people are jealous.

He also can’t play the keyboards, which is the instrument he supposed to be playing. We do a lot of sequencing so he ends up just acting like he’s playing.

There is a lot of things this guy thinks he can that he actually fails at doing and somehow he fools himself into thinking he can do it, which is beyond me.

I always try to evaluate myself and look at myself realistically. I know the things that I’m good and the things that I need to work on. By looking at yourself realistically you give yourself a chance to improve on your imperfections. By not seeing yourself realistically you’ll keep doing things wrong and failing while all the time fooling yourself into thinking you can do things you can’t. And that says it all.

Crazy News Monday

Here’s a crazy news item that happened back in August, but closed last Friday. Michael Crocker of Meridian, Mississippi had told police that assailants had cut his tongue out. Crocker reported the tongue cutting after his neighbor and plant manager over where Crocker worked was found dead in a truck. When police went to Crocker’s home they saw that a portion of his tongue had been cut off.

Later police found that Crocker had cut out his own tongue and possibly killed his neighbor and co-worker all to cover up a $200,000 theft from his employer. This guy must have had some great painkillers to cut out his own tongue.

I know I wouldn’t kill somebody for any amount of money and I don’t think I would cut out my tongue for $200,000 or any amount of money… Okay, maybe a million. And that says it all.

Getting Back On Track

I haven’t been doing a lot of posting here lately. I have been spending a lot of time on my Mike’s Money Making Rants & Raves blog. After all that is the blog I make money from.

But I am going to get this blog back on track. I do like posting here because this is where I can get stuff off my chest and say what is on my mind. Because of working on my other blog and other projects, I just hadn’t had the time to post here like I want.

I will however change that and post here more because I do have a lot to say. So keep coming back and hear my insights on different subjects. And that says it all.

Crazy News Monday

Get this, a 67-year-old woman in Tucson, Arizona was left for hours in a CT (Computed Tomography) scanner for hours. The woman, Elvira Tellez, a bone cancer patient, had gone to the oncology office for test. A technician put her in the CT scanner and told Tellez not to move during the 25-minute process. The technician left and dimmed the lights so Tellez could relax.

Well, after some time Tellez figured too much time had passed and started calling out for someone. After getting no answer she started screaming for help. She finally managed to wiggle her way out of the machine after several hours only to find that everyone had left and that she had been locked in the office.

Tellez called her son who told her to call 911. By the time the police got there Tellez had been there five hours from the time she was placed in the CT scanner.

My thing is, I don’t like hospitals, clinics, or doctors offices and after hearing this I’m not going to be left in a machine where I’m wrapped tight in a blanket or strapped down and the technician leave the room. No, they will have to stay in the room and read a book, watch TV, play solitaire or whatever, but they are not going to have a chance to forget about me. And that says it all.

Crazy News Monday

A guy in Charleston was arrested after he text messaged the State Police to make a drug deal. It appears that Joshua Cadle, who is 19 years old, text messaged a number that he though belonged to a friend. Apparently Cadle hadn’t called this friend in a while because the number now belonged to the State Police.

Cadle’s text message asked if the friend wanted to buy some weed. A meeting was setup in the parking lot of a shopping center where Joshua Cadle was arrested. He was charged with delivery of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver.

That just shows how modern technology can screw you up. Had Cadle called his friend instead of text messaging him, he would have known the moment he heard the voice on the other end that it wasn’t his friend.

This should teach us all a lesson. Keep in touch with your friends so you’ll know when they change their number. And that says it all.

Bringing Your Personality Online

You know the one thing you will never be able to escape is your personality. You can change parts of your personality if you work on it, but your core personality, the person that you truly are will always come through.

I got to thinking about this when I realized that even online I’m the person I am in the real world. In real life I’m an introvert. I don’t socialize much and I like being by myself a lot and I realized that I’m the same way online.

I don’t go to a lot of other blogs and leave comments. I mean there are plenty of blogs out there that I actually like, but I very, very seldom leave a comment. I have made some friends from blogging that I like very much, but just like my real world friends I very rarely reach out to them even though I like them a lot.

I’m even a member of several social networking sites, but I never visit them until someone invites me to be a friend.

My point is that my core personality is being an introvert, a loner or maybe even a hermit. I know to be more successful online or in life period you must be very social. I’m working coming out of my shell and be more social, but change is hard.

Here’s something fun you can do. The next time you’re at someone’s blog see if you can guess what their core personality is. Once you a guess why not contact them and ask if your guess is right? And that says it all.
