Are Britney, Paris And Lindsay News?

Actually the better question is, why are the news networks obsessed with Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan? I mean every time you turn to one of the news channels now they are talking about these girls. If it’s not about Lindsay Lohan’s latest alcoholic escapade, it’s about whatever stupid thing Britney Spears is doing or if Paris Hilton has changed after her jailhouse stay or all three.

In my opinion, the news networks should tell news that impacts our lives or the world around us and leave the Britney, Paris and Lindsay stuff to a few minutes of entertainment news or some fluff story, not hours of the stuff throughout the day.

There are people out there doing worse things than these girls are doing, tell me about them. Tell me who I should be watching out for, who might do some harm to me and others. If you feel you absolutely have to mention Britney, Paris and Lindsay, give me an “Oh Wow” moment and move on to some hard-hitting news. And that says it all.

Good Bye Tammy Faye

Tammy Faye Bakker/ Messner died on Friday of last week. I became a fan and an admirer of Tammy Faye when I saw her on the second season of the “Surreal Life”. I thought that Tammy Faye would be waving the Bible and spouting out religious messages to everybody, especially Ron Jeremy the porn star. Instead Tammy Faye was very excepting and friendly with everyone especially Ron Jeremy. If Tammy Faye wasn’t in agreement with an activity, she didn’t put others down or go quoting the Bible as to way they shouldn’t do it. She just didn’t participate in that activity. Just shows you can judge a person from a label the media puts on them or what you might even conceive at first glance.

When Tammy Faye found out that she had cancer, her believe keep her strong and hopeful. Even when she realized that she wasn’t going to win her fight with this disease, her fear wasn’t for herself, her fear was for her friends and loved ones who she knew would grieve her passing and feel the pain of her lose in their lives and I became even more of an admirer.

Incase you missed it, I have embedded Tammy Faye’s last interview with Larry King here from YouTube. When you watch it you can’t help but to like this lady and wish here well.

I really wish Tammy Faye could have won her fight with cancer, she was one of the really, really good people. And that says it all.

Your Big Idea And Making Money

My girlfriend turned me on to this show called “The Big Idea”, hosted by Donny Deutsch. I love this show. It shows how everyday people with simple ideas can make millions of dollars by pursuing those ideas. It doesn’t matter how simple or stupid the idea might seem Donny says go for it and you can make a million dollars.

Take the guy who combined a fork with a knife. He realized that we are always trying to cut meat, carrots and other things with our forks that are hard to cut with a fork. So what he did is made the side of the fork a knife and bam he’s selling millions of them. Or take the ladies that found out that anything you can put a stamp on, you can send it through the mail. They come up with greeting balloons and a million dollar business.

The show also takes from idea to the market of the product and shows just how simple getting your idea out to the public can be sometimes. You just have to want to do it and then do a little research and the next thing you know you are in business.

So if you have an idea that you think could make you some money, but figure you’ll never be able to do it, watch “The Big Idea” with Donny Deutsch on CNBC at 10:00 Eastern, but check your listings in other time zones and get inspired, get going and get to making money. And that says it all.

A Word About Bloggerwave

On my other blog, Mike’s Money Making Rants & Raves, I talked in depth about my involvement with Bloggerwave and what their payment policy is. Since I also have some Bloggerwave reviews here I thought I would give a short comment on it.

I was finally paid, in full, from Bloggerwave after sending three emails that got no responses and doing a post threatening to label them a scam if I had not heard from them by the end of the week. I don’t want to say that Bloggerwave is bad or being underhanded in any way, I think they might just be having growing problems. I think the owner may have just jumped in to the pay per review arena before figuring everything out. But I feel once everything is figured out Bloggerwave will be a good company for bloggers to make money from.

One thing I urge them to figure out fast though is their payment policy. They need to figure out when they want to pay bloggers and post it somewhere on their site. Or if they already know, let us know. And that says it all.

To Forgive Is Divine

I was watching Oprah today. Well, I was flipping between Oprah and Judge Mathis. But on Oprah they had these people that met with people that had done a crime against them or a loved one. The amazing thing the victims forgave the criminals for there crimes against them.

One lady for gave a man for killing her father and another lady forgave a hitman for shooting her in the stomach. The thing is he was going to shoot her five more times, but his gun jammed allowing her time to get away.

I must admit it takes a big person to forgive a person that has committed these types of crimes against you and I also must admit that I’m not that big a person. I believe you get what you dish out.

I think for the most part it’s women that are more apt to forgive someone for perpetrating a crime against them after the criminal has been caught. They seem to need to do in order to move on with their lives. As a matter of fact women were the only ones I saw on the show doing the forgiving. In fact going back to the lady whose father was killed. Her husband told the guy he was glad to see him in prison and that he didn’t forgive him and it wasn’t even his father.

I think guys are more of the mind that if you do something against me I want to see you suffer for it. If someone killed one of my family members, I want to see the person suffer as much as possible. I want them to be on death row and when it comes time for them to be executed, get them right to the brink. Get them strapped to the chair or the up to their arm and then stop, postpone it. Take them back to their cell and a few days later do it all over again. Do that a few times before they are actually executed. Let them fill that fear of dying that my loved one felt over and over again. That’s punishment that would help me get on with my life.

They say forgiveness is divine. Maybe it is I don’t know. If you are someone that can forgive a person after they have done something horrific to you or yours, you are a better person then I am. And that says it all.

Don’t Say I Can’t

I hate to hear people say can’t do something. When you say you can’t do something you have just defeated yourself. You have put up a block that now won’t allow you to do that thing. Whenever someone gives me a challenge or there something that I want to do, but don’t know how, I always say I can’t do it yet. That puts me on notice that this is something I’m going to be able to do soon.

I have taught myself a lot of things by having the attitude that anything anyone else can do I can do. I wanted to draw and paint so I told myself that’s what I’m going to do and I went about doing it. Getting how to paint books and watching how other artists painted and I learnt. Oh, I’m not a have ass artist either, I’m damn good at it. Check my art sites in my sidebar. I wanted to learn computers. A friend of mine showed me a few things and I took it from there, now in my circle I’m the computer guy that everyone comes to. I can go on as far as learning how to play keyboards, sing, write and other stuff. I did put that can’t block in my mind and I went about teaching myself the things I wanted to know.

Now, I’m not anything special I believe anybody can do anything they put their minds to. The one thing about me is that I realized it. So when somebody asks you to do you know how to do something and it’s something that you really want to do, don’t say “I can’t” say “I can’t do it yet” that lets them know and you know that you are going to be able to do it. And that says it all.

The War In Iraq Is Not A War On Terror

I can’t believe that people still believe that the war in Iraq is a war on terror. Even the news media keeps calling it a war on terror. Give me break. Come on people this has never been a war on terror, that’s just one of the names this war has been called and it just stuck.

Lets recap the names this war has been called. First it was a war to find “Weapons of Mass Destruction”. That didn’t stick because there were no weapons of mass destruction. Then it was called “A War to Help the People of Iraq” that kind of stuck and is sometimes alluded to. But the big winner is “The War on Terror”, but now it’s becoming “A War to Help the Iraqi People Protect Themselves”.

Okay let’s examine this logically for a minute. There are terrorist in Iraq, but they are terrorizing Iraq. It has been proven that Iraq had nothing to do with the terrorist that attacked this country. In fact Iraq and Al-Qaida (who actually attacked the US and other countries) don’t even get along. Iraq isn’t the people that are terrorizing other countries like the recent attack in England. Iraq has only really been a terror to itself after Saddam was run out of Kuwait.

So way did we attack Iraq? Well, from what I’ve read and seen, Bush and Cheney had hard ons about taking Saddam out. They were tired of his games, but from what I understand Cheney really pushed the idea of a war with Iraq. And I know it’s a cliché now, but I believe it was also to have some control on the oil there. On the day of the attack or a day after, President Bush made an announcement and in that announcement he urged to Iraqi people not to bother the oil wells. Open your eyes, doesn’t that say something.

I think this war has lasted longer then anybody thought it would. I think the President it would be like the Kuwait war where Saddam’s soldiers were giving up to get a meal. Now we have to stay to save face. We promised we would help get the Iraqi army to a point where they could protect their country and we can’t leave until that’s done.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m behind the troops all the way. They are doing what their commander and chief has ordered them to do. But war on terror this is not and it never has been and it’s a shame that our young men and women are dieing for a lie. And that says it all.

Making A Change Makes A Better Relationship

Me and my girlfriend use to be at each other’s throats all the time. We argue it seems like every other day. Then one day it stopped. We are now getting along better than we ever had, we laugh and joke and tease each other (out of fun), which we could never do before and we have and give each other more respect.

We both use to be afraid of saying anything to each other because we never knew what might set off an argument. Now I know you’re saying then way stay together? Well, because we both knew how the other good person could be. How good we were in the beginning and how good we were to each other when we weren’t arguing. We weren’t cheating on each other and we didn’t have money problems (don’t get me wrong we don’t have much money, it’s just not a problem), we just had things the other did that got on our nerves so bad that sometimes it just blew up out of proportion.

Okay, so what changed? What change was we both decided to change ourselves instead of trying to change the other person. We started looking at the things we were doing that might be causing the problem instead of blaming each other for causing the problem. We decided to change the way we re-acted to things and put them in there proper perspective. For me, I have things that if anybody does them it irritates me to no end and my girlfriend does most of those things and it use to cause a lot of problems. But by changing the way I re-act to those things my girlfriend was more willing to try and be more conscious of them and not do them.

One thing though, in order for this change to work, both partners has to be willing to make the change. So if you’re having problems in you’re relationship but you want to stay together, if you really care for each other and you really want your relationship to work out and you really want to enjoy each other, make the change, believe me you’ll be glad you did. And that says it all.

The Power Of Smiling

Smiling is one the most powerful things you do. You can make other people smile just by smiling. You make yourself feel better when you smile. Everybody loves to laugh and smile, it is the one thing that people all over the world have in common. Even the most hardened criminal likes to laugh and smile.

It is a proven fact that smiling and laughing can make you healthier. Smiling is the one thing you can do to control other people. Try it, as you walk past people smile at them and see if they don’t smile back. Want to feel good, smile.

So if you’re feeling sad or you had a bad day think of something that will make you smile and you will feel a lot better. Hey, you actually made through another day, that’s something to smile about. And that says it all.

Live Earth Live Us

With Live Earth and his commitment to bringing awareness to Global Warming, Al Gore has literarily re-invented his image. He has jumped on this issue and made it his own and I say good for him. I think he’s done a much better job of bringing awareness to the problem of global warming than anyone before him, hell even I am paying more attention to it now.

So with Gore making more people aware of global warming and wanting to do something about it, why then is the news media bashing him so much. I keeping seeing them say that Gore is wrong, his data is flawed and that global warming isn’t as big a problem as Gore is making it out to be if there is any global warming at all.

First of all why weren’t they saying that when the other folks were trying to bring awareness to the global warming problem and with Live Aide. Is it that the news media, who has always been a Gore basher since he was Vice President just like beating down their favorite beating board? They talked about the energy being used to put on the concerts for Live Earth, but if it helps make more people start using less energy isn’t that worth it?

I’m not a big Gore fan, I never thought of the man one way or the other, but he is doing something now that might help save the planet whatever his reasons are. I say leave the guy alone and let him do what he’s thing. They say global warming might be some imagined problem, well I think something is going on. Here in the Midwest I remember we used to get snow and cold weather from like October clear to about the middle o March and now we might not get snow until January. Not I like snow or cold weather, I hate it, but it just shows the change in the planets climate.

I say it might be good for us to jump on the Gore bandwagon and start doing things to save energy and not pollute the planet and stop destroying the ozone. We need to stop killing the planet. A live earth means a live us. And that says it all.

Where Are The Kids

A friend and were talking today about how we hardly ever see kids out playing anymore. I remember when I was a kid we were always outside playing. We’d be playing football, tag, kick ball or just out running around, but I don’t see kids out doing any of that or out at all.

Have video games made kids less physically active? Is that part of the reason more kids are over weight because they’re sitting in front of a TV or computer screen playing games instead of being outside running and doing physical activities with each other? Maybe the lack of interaction with each other and the violence in those games is the reason why it’s so easy for kids to hurt and even kill each other. It’s easy not to care about people if you have little or no contact with them. Then if somebody does something to you that you don’t like or that you think is disrespectful you have no thought about doing harm to them.

I know there are other factors involved with why kids are more violent today, but I also know that when we were outside playing with each other as kids, we may have had disagreements and fights, but the next day we were back outside playing with each other again. We would even go to different neighborhoods and play with strangers (kids that is) that we didn’t even know.

Maybe it’s time parents started urging their kids to get away from the video games and go outside and play some games. They might get to know each other better and become friends and not want to hurt or kill one another. And that says it all.

Spammers Scammers And Crooks

About a month or two ago I saw a news report that said one of the top spammers had been caught and arrested. Well, they need to catch the other ones because my e-mail is still full of spam. It’s amazing the amount of junk that comes in your e-mail. Of course a lot of it I know I brought on myself because of some of the things I sign up for to make money. But most of it is from people who somehow unscrupulously got my e-mail address and just send me as well as everyone else ridicules scams that amazes me that anyone fall for.

Take the one where someone has a million dollars waiting for them and the only way they can get is if you, a complete stranger help them and they will be happy to pay you a large some of money for your efforts. How do you fall for that? But, apparently people do or they would stop doing it.

The newest thing I’m seeing now is the pdf file e-mail. This is where you get an e-mail that clams to give you some information in a pdf attachment. How stupid do you think I am? I’m not opening any attachment from somebody I don’t know. Since I never opened one I don’t know what’s in these pdf attachments, but I would bet it’s some kind of virus.

Which brings me to something else. Why do people want to sit around writing a program to harm people they don’t even know? If they’re that smart in the first place why not make money from your skills? Why not write a program that you can sell on the open market? Why people choose to do mean things to people that haven’t done a thing to them in any case is beyond me. It’s a lot easier and safer to be nice to people.

So what I want to say here is be careful when answering your e-mails and just use some common sense. If you didn’t enter a lottery in the UK, believe me you didn’t win a lottery in the UK. If some foreigner you don’t know is offering to pay you a large sum of money if you give them your bank account number so they can transfer a million dollars to your account because that’s the only way they can get the money that’s owed them, believe me you’re going to get more than you bargained for. And if anybody that you don’t know sends you an attachment, no matter how tempting it may be, do not open it.

There are lots of spammers, scammers and crooks out there, you just have to always be on guard. And that says it all.

Working On A Better Blog

This blog is supposed to be about my thoughts on things, everyday life and things that bugs me, with an ad or two thrown in here and there. I haven’t been doing much with this blog lately or any of my blogs with the exception of Mike’s Money Making Rants & Raves and that’s because easy to post there. It is my oldest blog.

Does this mean I’m not thinking of anything or that things don’t bug me anymore? No, it doesn’t. It just means that I have been busy with other things and haven’t taken time to take care of my blogs.

Well, that’s going to be changing in the coming weeks. I am planning on making all my blogs bigger and better. I will be doing more posting and broadening my subject matter. I hope you’re here to join me on my quest to better blogging. And that says it all.
