Downsizing

Guest post written by my buddy Fidel Hernandez

One of my co-workers, Mary, bought a new home in a different area of town from where she had lived for over 30 years. She discovered that she had the option of several television viewing providers and was interested in DIRECTV vs DISH. Both are satellite so it was just a matter of the viewing options offered to her. She had never had a choice before. The area where she moved from only had one viewing capability. Options are great, she decided.

She also had options for her power and gas and was able to combine some city services into one bill. Mary loves her new home and she was really impressed with how easy it was to get into it. Of course, it took her weeks to pack before the movers came. She had thirty years of memories, and junk, stored in her attic and basement. But with the downsize, which is what she did now that the kids were out of the house, she had to purge and throw out and store some things differently. Purging junk like that is a great feeling!
